Anderson. The prequel to the original Dune tells the story of how Rosak’s sister became a Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen, using voiceover, is from one called “Mentats of Dune.” All three books deal with the development of the sisters, Mentats, Navigators, and Brush Doctors.
This spinoff is more like Game of Thrones than Dune
That said, Dune: The Prophecy is everything I hoped it would be, and more. This is a great addition to a beloved film franchise. I should start by saying that I have never read the source material or seen the original film.
I absolutely love them both, so I had high hopes for this series
My experience with Dune is based on the two Dune movies that have come out in the last few years, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. Those two movies (especially Dune: Part 2) are two of my favorite movies I’ve seen in the last few years. Dune: Prophecy is a series that takes place 10,000 years before the start of the Dune movies and is about how the Harkonnen sisters started the Bene Gesserit as a fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity.
The show may feel more like Game of Thrones than Dune, but it’s still very entertaining
The most important thing about this show is that it does exactly what it set out to do, in that it deepens our understanding of the Bene Gesserit. You don’t have to watch both Dune films to enjoy it, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you want to.
