Narrative
Two young religious women are drawn into a game of cat-and-mouse in the house of a strange man.. Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East in Heretic, plus more modern women killing the horror game version of "Knocking on the Door of Heaven" set to the tune of "Fade into You" by Mazzy Star. A nod to the fact that "Creep" by Radiohead is a reiteration of "The Air That I Breathe" by The Hollies, previously mentioned by Grant in the movie.. The end credits state that no Generative Al was used in the making of the film..
He is eager to discuss their convictions and hear the good news
Two Mormon missionaries, Paxton and Barnes, are lured into the home of the polite and knowledgeable Mr. Barnes. Reed. Too eager.
It is thrilling to see where each topic and turn leads the characters
When the theology discussion takes a dark turn, the sisters are equally enthusiastic about leaving. If they can.Heretic is an intense, chilling, and frighteningly sincere discussion about the horror of ideas. I enjoyed the deep dialogues about myth, choices, and awkward topics like polygamy and Mormon underwear. Grant appeared to relish the atypical role for him of playing a "baddie." He was well cast along with Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher, both also present for the premiere, for they all seemed to be acting instinctively and from the heart.
East and Thatcher
East and Thatcher were once Mormons themselves, and Grant bonded with certain aspects of Mr. Reed. "I found," said Grant about his character's views on religion "that we had a lot in common." No wonder they were so good. They were channeling part of their life experiences. Great casting.
